Math Enrichment Program for Grades 6-8

Instructor: Mr. Jian Zhang
TA: Dr. Chenhui Liu
The program is designed to enrich students’ math learning with focus on critical thinking and problem solving skills. It is meant to support Wayland Middle School Math Club, and help students who need to prepare for math competitions, MCAS, ISEE and SSAT math tests.

First class is free! 5% of the program proceeds will be donated to the school Math Club to support their activities; and 5% will be donated to Wayland Public Schools Foundations. Students will be awarded for their outstanding performance.

Time: Monday 2:35 - 4:05 PM, Jan 6th - May 19th 2014. There would be no class on school vacation/holiday dates.
Location: Classroom 136, Wayland Middle School
Tuition: $525 for 16 weeks, we meet once a week on Mondays for 1.5 hours with 10 minutes break in the middle.

Details about the program

In this program, we will:
  • focus on critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • encourage students to join the Math Club and go for any kind of competition, Math Olympiad, IMLEM, AMCs, MathCounts, Math Kangaroo.
  • motivate students, make the math study as fun as possible. When they are fully engaged, the amount of knowledge they can absorb is incredible.
  • guide students to work hard and work smart
  • help students prepare for MCAS, ISEE and SSAT standard tests

Math teacher at Newton Chinese Sunday School, teaching students from 6th grade to 11th math SAT-I, SAT-2, and math competitions for the past 7 years. Being highly motivated, over 95% of Jian's students have dramatically improved their math, achieving above 780 on SAT math or Gold medal and perfect score on Math Olympiad.
